Our 6th unit has gone for transplant!!!!!

It is with great joy that I tell you - our 6th unit has gone for transplant!!!!! Since October, we have had 3 more units go out for transplant to help provide hope and a chance at life for children and adults all over the world! I think sometimes that many do not believe that our small state can make a difference, but I know that we can!

Our numbers are still not where we want them to be though. If we could even get half of the parents delivering at St. Francis and Christiana to donate (4,000 babies), just think of the impact that we could make! We know our moms and dads make good units - we just need to collect more!

So I ask you, when you see a pregnant woman - ask her what she is doing with her baby's cord blood! The more that know, the more that can help!

Thank you again for all of your support!

3rd cord blood unit for transplant

It is with great excitement that I share with you that we have released our 3rd cord blood unit for transplant to a young child in Italy! How incredible that the work we are doing here in our little state is affecting the lives of a family in a country so far away!

I am also excited to tell you that we have reached over 120 pre registrations from moms through our website! Technology rocks!

This number however, is nowhere near our potential. There are approximately 7000 births at Christiana and 1000 births at St. Francis we want them all!!! So how do we get to more moms? We need you to help us! We need to continue to spread the word. Have you been to our online store yet? A comfy and stylish shirt, hat, or visor with our logo Give Life. Twice. worn by you, can be a great way to help us get to many more moms! Also, do you know a place that would be ideal to keep educational cards or flyers for moms to see? Maybe you can help us get these cards placed there! Even carrying our educational cards in your diaper bag or purse and handing them out as opportunities arise is a huge help. Just email us today and we will send them to you free of charge.

Remember that the more units that we get banked the more units will be available to be matched for transplant and that is the goal! Please help us to help more Delaware parents give the hope and possible life saving cord blood unit for families everywhere!

As always your support is greatly appreciated! Thank you for all that you do every day to help our cause! And again, please remember BKF in this years United Way Campaign.

August Update

In October, 2005, we donated our first son’s umbilical cord blood as part of The Brady Kohn Foundation pilot program. I had no idea at the time what a huge part of our lives the foundation and its mission would become. Now, I am so proud to say that I am a part of a movement that I know is saving lives today and will change the world tomorrow.

As I write this, I have two reasons to be extremely excited about the work that we do!

First, I am so honored to tell you that in the last six months, we have released TWO UNITS that were donated in DE!! We also know of two others that are on hold to be used potentially for transplants! The two units that were released for transplant went to one very young girl with a Bone Marrow Disorder and one young boy with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). The families of these two children will never know that their units came from Delaware and they will never know that The Brady Kohn Foundation was the reason that their children’s life saving units were available, but we know that we made that difference!

Second, our new website has taken on a life of its own and without us marketing the availability for moms to pre-register online, we have had 47 moms register in just two months with more and more registering every day! AMAZING!

So again I say, I am proud to be a part of this wonderful life saving foundation and I am proud to work with all of you!

AND I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that we have a very easy (and stylish) way to tell others about our program! Check out our NEW ONLINE STORE!!! We LOVE all of the items – and know you will too! I can’t wait to see all of you beautiful people strutting in your new BKF wear!

Thank you and don’t forget – if you see a pregnant woman, ask her if she is going to Give Life Twice!

Website Launch

Welcome to the launch of our new website! For those of you who are new friends to BKF, welcome. We thank you for reaching out to us to learn more about the life-saving abilities of umbilical cord blood. For our long time friends and supporters, thank you. It has been almost 7 years since we created Brady’s Foundation and we wouldn’t be here without your years of support, hard work and passion. We hope you will take time to look through the website. We have provided key information about cord blood and how easy it is to donate if you are a pregnant Mom. We’ve included testimonials, inspiring stories and beautiful pictures of our donor babies. Without them, our mission would not be possible.
We thank everyone who has been an advocate of our cause – together we are saving lives. And finally, we have included never before seen pictures of our Brady. We lost him just before his 3rd birthday- far too soon.
We miss him more and more every day. But we hope that as you see his smile and feel his joy and laughter, he will be a lasting inspiration.
